American interference in foreign policy of Pakistan

fp

Foreign Policy can be define as, Plan of action adopted by one nation in regards to its diplomatic dealings with other countries. Foreign policies are established as a systematic way to deal with issues that may arise with other countries. In other words a policy followed by a nation in its dealings with other nations, designed to achieve national objectives.

PAKISTAN FOREIGN POLICY :

The father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam defined Foreign Policy towards other countries of the world in 1948, as follows
Our Foreign Policy is one of friendliness and good-will towards all the nations of the world. We do not cherish aggressive designs against any country or nation. We believe in the policy of honesty and fair play in national and international dealings and are prepared to make our utmost contribution to the promotion of peace and prosperity among the nations of the world. Pakistan will never be found lacking in extending its material and moral support to the oppressed and suppressed peoples of the world and in upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Objectives of Foreign Policy:

Basic Goals of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy are following.

1. Maintenance of territorial integrity.
2. Maintenance of its political independence.
3. Acceleration of social and economic development.
4. Strengthening its place on the globe.
5. Keeping cordial and friendly relations with all countries.

Why U.S.A interfering?

In 1947, when Pakistan came into being there was to two super powers at that time in the world USSR and USA. These both countries want to make Pakistan there friend because of many reasons. One of them is location of Pakistan as Pakistan is joining two parts of the world.
However, Pakistan at that moment establish relationship with USA rather than USSR because we found that USA will be more helpful for us in order to build our country economically and for military support. Moreover, it was incredible at that time to create good relationship with both super powers because they were rivals of each other. One the other hand USA also did great work for constructing Pakistan and give support to Pakistan in many ways we cannot reject there funding for well establishing us. With all their work they also use us in there cold war against USSR in order to divide Russia in parts. Finally they success in their mission with our help which was there dream because they want to become a great power role over the world.
From that time they are interfering in policies of Pakistan especially in foreign policy of Pakistan because of many reasons which I try to explain below in points.

  • The most major reason why USA create restrict in foreign relations of Pakistan is clear by the Cameron Munter (US ambassador to Pakistan) while Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad in which he said that the United States has right to interfere in Pakistan’s economic and governance affairs as the former provides largest aid to Pakistan. Therefore, USA can made demands to Pakistan with respect and dignity.
  • Since the event of September 11, Pakistan has had to carve out a new strategy for its future. An alliance with the U.S.A has seen a turbulent era of war against terrorist groups namely, the Al Qaeda and Taliban. This is the second major reason of American interference in Pakistan. In other words the main accuse of America to Interrupt Pakistan relations with other countries.
  • Many of Pakistan social problems find a direct link to the last Afghan war, currently these go much beyond the social and into the structural and institutional realms. While difficult, it is necessary to separate Pakistan relationship with Afghanistan from that with the U.S. in the ongoing war. That said, when it comes to discussing it as a factor of instability, the two are inextricably linked. Consequently, this section will address some key destabilizing elements arising from Afghanistan, specifically in the context of the simultaneously ongoing wars in both countries.
  • The U.S. has been called Pakistan “fickle ally‟, and even a cursory glance at the ups and downs of the relationship will confirm this claim. In the current phase where Pakistan has been declared a major non-NATO ally, there has been need felt to rethink the norms of its relationships.

Conclusion:

Pakistan carries with it much excess cases, both historical and current, and both internal and external. It is imperative, in order to shed some of this unwanted weight, that issues are dealt with dispassionately. It is a little too convenient, as this essay might deceive to suggest, that all or even most internal problems in the country owe their mushrooming to what were essentially external causes. However, it is equally unjust to ignore foreign influences altogether.
The challenge for Pakistan is to overcome long-standing differences and create more stable and beneficial relationship with the United States. In war, generations are lost, lands destroyed and rebuilding can take decades. That fate may still not be avoided. But for many, a better and more consistent handling of relations with these U.S.A may not mean lives changed for the better, it may mean lives saved. And that perhaps, is the best outcome from war that one can hope for.
